There were several places around the world where pharmacies experienced a shortage of drugs in 2011 and not all of those drugs have been replenished in their supplies. For example, ADHD drugs are still in very short supply in the state of Wyoming where citizens are reporting that they are unable to obtain the drugs they need to live their lives well. Individuals who take drugs for hyperactivity are sometimes able to find alternatives that can be used for their medications but it is not always certain that American or Canada drugs can fill the void when the true prescription is not available.
Unfortunately, another problem with the alternative drugs is that they are not always covered under insurance and may end up costing quite a lot of money which is not always the good thing for people who are on a budget yet in need of medication. Too often, people have to go without their medication instead of being able to get it from any pharmacy the North America. And a further problem exists in the fact that even when an alternative drug or treatment is found, it can take several days to materialize.
Some experts have suggested that the increase in demand and some different regulations from the Drug Enforcement Administration have been the cause of the drug shortages but for some reason no one is quite sure just why certain drugs have started to disappear from pharmacy shelves. Unfortunately, doctors and pharmacists have no way to suggest that the drug manufacturers make more drugs because they have no power.
